Electric bicycle new national standard charging plug standard, unified interface cross-brand universal, enhance safety

The new national standard charging plug standard for electric bicycles is divided into two types, one is the lead-acid battery charger plug, and the second is the lithium-ion battery charger plug. What do they look like.

After the implementation of the new national standard, the chaos in the electric vehicle industry will be greatly improved. The maximum speed requirement shall not exceed 25 km/h (km/h), the weight of the whole vehicle body shall be less than or equal to 55kg (kg), the battery voltage shall not exceed 48V (V), and the rated power of the motor shall be less than or equal to 400W (W).

Before the new national standard, various electric vehicle enterprises developed their own charging interfaces and chargers, which generally use positive and negative power supply methods. The interface plugs have different forms, and different currents and voltages cannot be used across brands. The same form of plugs also occurs, because the opposite of positive and negative causes potential safety hazards.

Plugs cannot be used across brand vehicles. Plugs and chargers are not universal, resulting in repeated purchases, resulting in waste of resources and potential safety hazards. The call for unified electric bicycle charging interfaces is getting louder and louder, and unified standards and specifications are imminent.

In June 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology publicly solicited opinions on national standards such as "Safety Technical Requirements for Chargers for Electric Bicycles" (draft for approval), and the specifications of electric bicycle chargers and plugs were officially exposed, that is, the future new national standard plug and new national standard charger for electric bicycles.

The "Safety Technical Requirements for Chargers for Electric Bicycle" abandons the old fool-type two-pin direct power supply method, refers to the unified physical interface and different unified modes of mobile phones and new energy vehicles, and is forced to use the "communication protocol" method for charging, also known as the one-line communication protocol. After the charger and the battery successfully shake hands and ask for the correct voltage, the charging can be officially started to prevent the potential safety hazard of mismatch.

The voltage and charging algorithm of lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries are completely different, so two types of plugs are designed, and they are not physically universal to avoid misuse. The lead-acid battery plug adopts the form of two power pins and two communication pins (2 2), and the lithium-ion battery adopts the form of two power pins and four communication pins (2 4)

The new generation of national standard plugs is a good way to realize cross-brand use for electric bicycles, and the safety is also greatly improved, solving the chaos of different plugs in the past.

Forcing the charger and the battery to use the one-wire communication function can avoid problems such as voltage mismatch, pin reversal, etc., and improve the charging safety of electric bicycles. The positive and negative independent cavities can also avoid the risk of short circuit caused by false contact of metal foreign bodies. The cross-brand common plug form avoids waste of resources, brings convenience to consumers, and contributes to green environmental protection.
